Great-Grandfather and Grandmother lived in Mount Victory, Hardin County in 1861 when Great-Grandfather, John R. GRIFFITH enlisted in Army at Union County. He was 34 years old. His wife, Rhoda K. WILSON GRIFFITH remained at Mount Victory while John was in the war until he died at Jefferson Barracks Hospital in April, 1864 when she moved back to Iowa where her parents lived. Their son Wilson David GRIFFITH was born Nov. 1858 at Mount Victory. I am searching for any information about John before his marriage to Rhoda at Hardin County Probate Court in Feb. 1858. Can anyone help? Thank you very much! Please e-mail me.

Searching for John S. WAGONER born abt 1837 in Switzerland, who married Henrietta GUIDER Dec. 18, 1864. According to census records for Cessna Tp., Hardin Co., Oh. their children were John WAGONER b abt 1866, Jacob born abt 1870 and Jesse born abt 1877. Then I lost them. One bit of confusion is that on their marriage license the name is spelled Wagner and in the census it is Wagoner. There were WAGONERS in Washington Tp., Hardin Co. Does anyone know where they went, etc. I need information a.s.a.p. as there will be a GUIDER reunion Aug. 27, 2000. Sharon Lodge

Could anyone tell me if Mt Victory had or has a local newspaper for the town. And if so, is there a library there with old newspaper publications on film. Thanks.

There has been a lot of interest shown in the past to have our own Hardin County Mail List for genealogy interests. I am very happy to say that we now have it available. You can reach it from the following Hardin County GenExchange link: http://www.genexchange.org/county.cfm?state=oh&county=hardin Go to the Mailing Lists heading and click on Ohio Mailing lists; it will take you to the form to fill out to subscribe. Be sure to choose the Mailing List that you want; OHHardin-Rooters. Also be sure and check the databases there periodically. I've been adding data on a daily basis. You just might find that piece of the puzzle you're looking for. Also check Maggie's World of Courthouse Dust and Genealogy Fever, Census Project. Click on 1870, Ohio, and go down to Hardin Co. and click on partial. They have my Blanchard Township transcript of the 1870 Census available online and they will have the Buck Township by August. If you have bookmarked the Hardin County GenExchange page already, please change the URL to that above.
