HERRING, SUTLEY posted by Nancy A. Sedwick on Wednesday, May 13, 1998

We are trying to obtain information on a Samuel HERRING and Elizabeth (Eliza) SUTLEY HERRING. We have found the following sketchy information about the family in a book on the History of Harrison and Mercer County, Mo (1888):The history states that they lived from 1843 to 1854 in Hardin County, Ohio where their son, Hezekiah Jackson HERRING attended "common schools" there. There were 3 older children and eventually 5 younger children born to the family. We would appreciate any information you can provide. We were additionally told that there are no microfilm records available for Hardin County but that there is information in "books" there. We will gladly reimburse any expenses associated with copying fees, postage, time spent, etc. Thank you in advance for your help!

BAUGHMAN, COCKERELL, EDENS, SHACKELFORD, SWARTZ posted by Traveler on Wednesday, May 20, 1998

I am looking for any available information concerning the surname EDENS. My husband, Michael Vernon EDENS, is the son of Adam Francis EDENS and Doris Alberta BAUGHMAN. Francis was the brother of Evert Eugene EDENS, and we believe he (Francis) was born in the McGuffey area of Hardin County. Francis Adam and Evert Eugene were the sons of Francis Vernon EDENS and Addie COCKERELL. Francis Vernon, Addie, Adam Francis, and Evert Eugene are all buried in the cemetary on SR235 in Ada. It is believed that Francis Vernon had a brother Evert who was last thought to be in Michigan. Francis Vernon and Evert were the sons of Irwin (possibly Irvin) EDENS and Verella (Virella?) SHACKELFORD. Irwin and Verella died when Francis Vernon and Evert were very young, and are buried in unmarked graves at the cemetary in Jumbo. I do not have any birthdays, etc for Irwin and Verella and I have been told that the building which housed the cemetary records in Jumbo burned down a long time ago. I was told that Irwin had a brother Guy EDENS, but I have no information concerning this. Irwin and Guy were the sons of Samuel EDENS and Jenny SWARTZ, but here again I have no dates and no further information. I would greatly appreciate any help which may be given to me by anyone as I am at a loss on where to look next. Thank you!
