Newspaper Help 1844-1899, Does anyone on the list have the "Old Kenton Newspaper Death and Marriage Notices, Volume 1" who could check to see if there is a death noticed for General John ROSS who died 20 Apr 1850 and is buried in Grove Cemetery? Also, for a marriage on Benjamin F. ROBB to Jane Elizabeth ROSS on 8 Apr 1845. Trying to tie these individuals together with John being the father to Jane ROSS. Thanks for any and all help. I'm a new member of this list who is researching information concerning Lawrence/Larrance DURBIN and his father Nicholas DURBIN. Lawrence was born in Maryland in 1783, son of Nicholas DURBIN (b. abt. 1738 in MD and died 21 Sep 1811)son of Samuel DURBIN and Ann LOGSDON. They emigrated from Maryland and are on record as having lived for awhile in Fayette County, Pa. Nicholas DURBIN'S will was written a probated in Shortcreek Twp, Jefferson County, in December 1811. My g-g-grandfather was Thomas L.C. DURBIN, apparently Lawrence's son, was born 28 Apr 1816 possibly in Guernsey County, Oh or Belmont, Co. He died 25 Sep 1876 in Mt. Pleasant, Oh (Jefferson County). He was married to Catherine HENRY (b. 3 Jun 1824, d. 27 Apr 1864 in Mt. Pleasant, Oh). They were married on 30 Dec 1841 in Mt. Pleasant, Oh. Since I have no definite birthplace for Thomas L. C. DURBIN, I assume that either finding his birth record or where his father lived would clarify this. Anyone have any information on DURBINS I would appreciate hearing from. Thanks! Ed Durbin (L. Edward Durbin)

Hi, my name is Barbara LOOKER HYATT. I don't know if I have the correct person, But I am looking for information on Moab LOOKER. He was born Between 1805 and 1815 in Pickerington, Fairfield County, Ohio. He died in 1865 and buried in Spitzer Cemetery in Hardin Co. Kenton, Ohio. I would really like to find out his exact birth year if possible and his siblings names. His parents I believe are Jonathon and Phebe LOOKER. I have Jonathon's death as 1855 if Fairfield Co. Ohio. In the "Old Kenton Newspaper" there was an article about Mr. Moab LOOKER Passing away at his son's home on Ohio Street. It was dated 1-19-1893. If you have any information that would help me in my search, I would appreciate it.

My great grandfather Thaddeus GRAVES, son of Allen Graves and Mahalia (Mahala?) HAYS, was born in Kenton, Hardin county, Ohio 19 January 1834. His application for Civil War pension says "They took me from home while a little boy", and for years he didn't know his birthdate. He lost track of his brothers and sisters. I am hoping someone can help me locate information about his family as I am up against the proverbial brick wall. Thaddeus first shows up in Illinois census when he was about 26 years old as a single man working as a farm laborer. He enlisted in Union Army Infantry Co. 13 Unit G and served his entire hitch. He married Amanda E. GEISINGER, daughter of George GEISINGER, in 1871 in Whiteside County, Illinois. They had 4 children, Hattie b abt 1873, Walter (my grandfather) born 1 January 1876 in Thomson, IL, twins Earnest and Edith born March 1881 in Whiteside County. Thaddeus died in Carroll Co., IL in 1910. Family history says Allen GRAVES and his wife Mahalia HAYS were both born in Vt but I have not been able to verify this. Any help in solving the mystery of my great grandfather's family and locating any descendants of his siblings will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
