Searching for ancestors and descendants of Beriah W. MILLER, whom appeared in the 1860 census in Hale Township, Hardin County, Ohio. In this census he is living next door to the Robert BURRIS family. The wife of Robert BURRIS was Susan MILLER and she is believed to be an older sister, or perhaps an aunt to Beriah. Beriah became the guardian to Robert JAMES, son of Isaac JAMES and Elizabeth BURRIS, and a grandson of Robert and Susan (MILLER) BURRIS. Beriah was born about 1830 in Ohio. His wife was named Marinda and she was born about 1832 in Ohio. The known children of Beriah and Marinda were: Joseph James, b. ca. 1853; Elisabeth A., b. ca. 1855; Alice Amanda, b. ca. 1857 and Louis Gilbert.

4/19/98 While in a doctor's office last week, I was told by a person in there that she had played with DEPOY kids, the father being Joe and an attorney, in Ada, Ohio in the 1950's. I was wondering if there are any County Directories with that name in there. Being a DEPOY, myself, I am interested in who this Joe is. I thought she had mistaken the name for "Joe DAPORE", a prominent attorney in Lima, Ohio, but she said she knew both families, and "DEPOY was the correct spelling". Can you help me? Respectfully. 6/9/98 I have been told that a DEPOY family lived in Ada in the 1950's. Can anyone tell me anything about them?

POE, James born about 1848-1850 in Va. Married Elmira May daughter of Jacob W. & Clarinda A. HUFF May. They were listed on the 1870 & 1880 census for Lincoln Co.,WV and known children of James & Elmira were William, 1870, Emma, Georgia, Walter, Fannie ( my g grand-mother) born about 1876, and John, 1880. Elmira must have died between the 1880 - 1890 census since there is no further info on them in that area. Fannie went to live with an aunt outside of Richlands, Va. When Fannie died in 1953 the only living siblings were John, which lived somewhere in Ohio, and Tilda that lived in Jenkinjones, WV.

I am searching for relationship, if any, between family of (Harold?) STIMMEL who was Mayor of Alger about 1880-1900 and 1810 STIMMEL pioneers of Franklin and Delaware Counties. It is possible the link may be with Dr. Michael M. STIMMEL who practiced in Kenton about 1860. I would like to contact presentday descendants to exchange family history linking to 16th century German Rheinland.

I am looking for information on the family of Samuel GISH, son of John G. & Mary (WAGNER) GISH. He was born in Bottetourt County, Virginia, on 10-22-1797; he married Sarah SMITH in Bottetourt County, Virginia on 2-26-1817. Sarah was born in Virginia abt. 7-31-1794 and died in Logan County, Ohio on 4-26-1861. She is buried in Armstrong Cemetery along with her son, John, (1-28-1814 in Virginia to 2-28-1895 in Logan County, Ohio); his wife Mary Hill (7-30-1817 in Clark County, Ohio to 7-27-1889 in Logan County); Sarah and Sam's daughter, Nancy GISH (9-14-1820 in Virginia to 8-21-1901 in Logan County). Sam & Sarah also had a son William & possibly a daughter Mary (GISH) MCKINNON based on the will of John's daughter Louisa which was probatedn on 2 January 1906. Among her heirs are the heirs of William GISH & Mary MCKINNON. Louisa's obit also says her cousin, S. M. MCKINNNON attended from Dayton, and that Samuel GISH was also his grandfather. In her will Louisa left 45 acres in what I think was a life estate to William H. MCKINNON the description as being the Nancy GISH farm & part of the S.W1/4, Sec.3, T.1, R.8e. Her obituary also stated that she died on a farm that had been owned by her grandfather, Samuel GISH, 70 years ago and had been in the family every since. Since she died in 1905, that would mean that Samuel had purchased it ca. 1835. What I want to know is: 1) Did Sam leave a will or how was this property transferred? This would help pinpoint when he died as he isn't buried in Armstrong next to Sarah, which means probably rhat he died before she did. 2) Is there a record of a marriage to Mary GISH to a MCKINNON? Louisa's will is in Will Bk. g. 1904-1909 pg. 190-191 & Will Box G-8 (large file) How would I go about finding out if there is anything of interest in there? Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
