Hi. I am seeking information on William MCGINNIS from Hardin County. The main information I have on him comes from the "History of Hardin County" in 1883: "William C. MCGINNIS, farmer, P.O. Dunkirk, was born July 31, 1804. His parents were Paul and Susan (ROBISON) MCGINNIS, natives of Scotland, and both deceased. He was raised in Pa. and came to Hardin County 25 years ago. In 1838 he married Maria UNDERWOOD, a native of Washington Co. Pa, who died August 10, 1859, leaving a family of nine children, eight of whom are living and married." His military records state he was born in Huntingdon Co., PA. I do have information on his daughter, Mary, and would love to hear from and share information with any MCGINNIS researchers. Thank you.

Hi, I just subscribed to this list. I'm searching for WELLS from Ada. I have my mother's birth certificate and it gives her mother's birthplace as Ada, Oh and her mother's name as Nina Marie WELLS. I have searched GenWeb, RootsWeb, LDS Familysearch (IGI) and can't find hide nor hair of any WELLS in Ada. My search for Ada indicates that there is only one town named this in Ohio and it is in Hardin County, so I think I'm at the right place. I also didn't find any county named Ada. But an Ada page says that only 4,000 citizens are there. Seems kind of small. Could it be that she was born to a student there at Ohio Northern University? I believe she was born about 1904 so I can't use the Health Dept. records, as they only go back to 1908.

Can anyone tell me if there was an orphanage near Kenton, Hardin County, Oh in the 1830's? My gr grandfather wrote "they took me from home while a little boy" and mentions brothers and sisters, but no mention of parents. I have unable to trace his parents and wonder if one or both of them died young, leaving a family alone. My gr grandfather was Thaddeus W. GRAVES born 19 January 1834 Kenton, Hardin County, Oh to Allen GRAVES and Mahalia HAYS. Does anyone have a clue?

I was wondering if you could help me. My Great ancestor Thomas KETCH lived in Forest, Ohio in the 1820's. He bought 120 acres of land there. Then in the 1830's he sold the land and moved, Ohio. There he had a house in which I was told he enlarged to make a hotel out of it, as well as a home for his family. He also died there. Is there anyone that can tell me rather the building is still there, which I doubt. Is there any pictures or history regarding my great grandfather. It would help my genealogy book that I am making for my family. If you have the time could you please e-mail me if you have any information at all.

My grandmother was Cora FANCHER DECKER. My g.g. grandfather was Henry FANCHER, who was born in Fayette County. I am also related to a George PARROTT and Joseph PARROTT who both married fancher sisters. The PARROTTS moved to Fayette County from eastern Tennessee (Cocke County). Joseph PARROTT moved onto Mercer County. I am trying to find a connection betwwen my PARROTTS and Jacob PARROTT of Hardin County. I believe that he was born in Fairfield County, Ohio. I have not been able to find any information about his parents. I have heard that they both died when he was a child. Thank you for any information you may be able to give me.
